Ride to Bayport Inn, February 16, 2008

140 miles to Bayport!!!!!!!!!
12 bikes and 14 bikers headed out to the Bayport Restaurant, which is nothing spectacular unless you decide to follow Jim Wattam. Jim took us on a convoluted route that was 140 miles one way and just about 4 hours. I swear some of those roads were hammered out by Seminole Indians and have never seen white men before this ride.
The weather was fantastic and at the first stop most were shedding their outer protective layers for more appropriate togs like tees and very light sweaters. We had a brand new HOG member team with us today, Dave and Carol who had just recently purchased their XL this week after several years away from riding. This cross-country jaunt was their very first HOG ride with this or any Chapter. Carol was heard to say, “Jeeze! Are ALL the rides this long? I need to get back into shape.” It may have been a bad choice for a first ride but they did enjoy themselves and we enjoyed having them.
As usual, food at the Bayport was delicious as always and we even had a gator join us dockside during our repast. Tempted as we were to throw Christine in and teach him a lesson for messin’, we resisted and allowed him to go about his business of being a gator.
All in all it was a fantastic day, a fantastic ride to some fantastic food with some fantastic friends. I guess you could call it,,,,,, fantastic.
